AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered

Q Mag HQ have released more details of their forthcoming 20th anniversary tribute to U2's 'Achtung Baby' CD with Depeche Mode's take on 'So Cruel'. The freebie CD will be stuck to copies of the December issue that will hit UK newsstands on October 25th.

'So Cruel' is Dep Mode's first official recording since 2009's 'Sounds Of The Universe' with knob twiddling by Martin Gore and vox from Dave Gahan.

Q have also released the full list of artists involved and EY is delighted to report that Muse were not involved in the recording of this tribute album. Instead we get the mighty return of electro legend Jacques Lu Cont (who seems to be back on the right track after a bizarre production stint with Take That) with a brand new remix of 'Even Better Than The Real Thing' - a track that opened up the dancefloor for U2 when Paul Oakenfold remixes hit the charts and performed better than the original edit back in 1991. Definitive 'Industrialists' Nine Inch Nails are also confirmed on 'AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered' with a version of Zoo Station whilst 2004 EY faves The Killers get our choice album track ' Ultraviolet (Light My Way)'.

Shirley Manson

Perhaps one of the biggest and most welcome surprise of this very desirable comp is the return of the delectable Shirley Manson and her Garbage who give us their take on 'Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses'.Snow Patrol are also included but moving swiftly on...EYHQ will be rushing to our local Tesco to snap up a copy of Q Mag (our first in almost 10 years) so good luck if you manage to grab a copy before they are all snapped up by hordes of Devotionals.

Just to prove that we're not jumping on the 'We Love The 90s' bandwagon, it is now some 30 years since the following tune first graced the UK charts...Sir Vince Clarke's finest moment outside of Yazoo and the first track that Baby Orac learn't to play on a Bontempi organ (we didn't need the Apple Corp back in those days).

Let us all raise a glass to Deppy Mode's 'Just Can't Get Enough'....

EY Recommends....The Fades

The Fades

Not to be mixed up with previously limp Beeb offerings such as 'Strange', 'Sea of Souls' etc, BBC Three's 'The Fades' is easily Auntie's finest spooky offering since 'Being Human' and is on couse to be UK telly's most talked about hit since 'Misfits'.

We won't give too much away about the 'good vs evil' plot but 'The Fades' is must-see TV here at EY HQ along with 'Fringe' and 'Supernatural'. Catch up with this stylishly gory gem over on iPlayer.
