Austra's 'Darken Her Horse' and another Lykkeliscious video release for 'Sadness is a Blessing'

After the super arty video for 'Beat and the Pulse', the video released this week for current single 'Lose It' is, at best, underwhelming so in the build up for the 16th May, sharing another leak from the album 'Feel It Break' seemed more fun and did I say pre-order it a hundred times already? Melancholy electro you must not miss out on.
Listen below to 'Darken Her Horse'; it's the opening track to the album and one of my personal favourites, setting an infallible standard for the remaining ten tracks. It is spooked up beep beep, beguiling ritualistic music which enchants within the spellwork of Katie Stelmanis vocals. Building slowly with a beautiful intro, the track kicks in a spine tingling otherworldly melodrama...simply love.
However, I don't think I can write a single word more on Austra's impressive debut so moving onto something that's not strictly electronic but apparently EY is feeling rather Lykkeliscious after hearing ' Wounded Rhymes'. The album is full of layered instrumentation and topped with Lykke's quirky vocals, 'Sadness is a Blessing' is one of the album's beautifully angst ridden moments.
The video is directed by Tarek Saleh who also did a great job with 'I Follow Rivers'. It starts with a serene but slightly mental look in her eye Lykke downing shorts from a waiter whilst eyeballing her apparent aging lover; no wonder she's sad.
Erratic behaviour and crazy dancing ensues under the watchful eye of polite society and her tearful lover looks on, all ending with the sort of embrace you give a child to keep them still. Pretty much the flavour of the album really; foot stamping, tantrum throwing, despairing and wounded...Lykke love it. Her wounded rhymes are no longer silent cries clearly.
Since her performance on Later with Jools, her album has sold a few more, it should be heard so go buy it now, jump here for the magic of 'I Follow Rivers' performed live.
