In 1978, Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh and Philip Oakey released their debut
single - a 7” released on a tiny independent label.
Nearly thirty years on, Being Boiled is still considered a classic, and the bands it spawned - The Human League and later Heaven 17 - are some of the most enduringly popular in music history.
To celebrate this landmark anniversary, acclaimed music website Electronically Yours is proud to announce a unique event in London that celebrates the Human League’s unrivalled pop legacy and looks to the future with a night of live bands, DJs and electronic music past and present.
Welcome to the official site for the Electronically Yours live event that will take place this October in celebration of the UK's most influential electronic act The Human League.
30 years may have passed since the release of 'Being Boiled' a track lamenting the needless slaying of silk worms, but countless new acts are emerging in 2007 with trademark League hooks and basslines first engineered by Marsh, Oakey, Ware and Rushent.
The Electronically Yours night intends to celebrate 30 years of the Human League with all the passion afforded to the main site.
There was only ever one headlining act in contention for our event and that is Marsheaux. Their second album 'Peek A Boo' is the unofficial companion to 'Dare' but from a female perspective. Warm, bubbly, inviting and destined for world domination, Marsheaux have studied the League's secrets and 'Peek A Boo' is laden with synth hooks and shimmering production from people who care. There are far too many great tracks on this album to single out for individual praise but ‘What You Don’t Like’ will raise the roof.
Our support act Schmoof have also released an album that will appeal to most League fans in 2007. A lasting impression is left on all those who have seen them live. Strap-on keyboards and PVC play only a small part. 'The Glamour' includes the live faves 'Warm Electro' and 'Northern Line' and they are pure electro gems - we couldn't have hoped for a better line-up.
Throughout the night, the decks will be manned by the talented EMP, A-Dam and Matt Nida with old and new tracks and plenty of remastered Human League classics plus all those songs you wished other clubs would play (I could name a thousand). Our DJs know what buttons to push...
Trust us...we're entertainers.
