Schmoof

Electro pop duo Schmoof consist of Sarah & Lloyd and they have proven themselves to be an irresistible live act on the UK scene since the release of ‘Bedroom Disco’ in 2002.

Together they dress up in PVC with strap-on keyboards, to perform perfect electro-pop with cutting northern humour and killer analogue hooks, against a backdrop of retro ZX Spectrum visuals. Both classically trained musicians, it was their mutual love of electro-pop that first drew them together and the duo have played many live events across the capital and around the UK, gathering a loyal legion of fans.

The GlamourSchmoof have just released their second album, The Glamour, to rave reviews and tracks such as ‘Northern Line’ (a duet about pulling on the underground) ‘Rock Wife’ and ‘Warm Electro’ have taken the band to a new level. Both the Electronically Yours and Drowned In Sound websites have awarded the album 8/10.

Sarah & Lloyd also find time to remix other acts with their unique analogue-atari production techniques, including a track for US girl-boy electro duo J+J+J and for UK label mates Bee Stings.

Schmoof released their single ‘Chocolate Boyfriend’ to extremely positive press in September 2006 and this led to an appearance on the front page of London’s Metro for Sarah and the singer was also the subject of the 60 second interview that same day. A promo video for the single featured Sarah bathing in a tub full of chocolate and remixes of the track received airplay on Radio 1, XFM and Capital.

Influences for the band include The Human League, Pet Shop Boys and Shakespear’s Sister and Sarah is also acting as a publicist for the Electronically Yours event in London.

‘If you fancy spending summer listening to some fizzy, summery, tuneful and skipping beats with a sense of humour and an ability to affect – and frankly, why wouldn’t you? – then getting The Glamour might be a good move. Marvellous, sugary-yet-sophisticated electro-pop enjoyment.’
