Secrets
Online had the pleasure of chatting to David Beevers yesterday mainly
with regards to future competition prizes.
One of the things discussed was the proposed live DVD with footage
recorded during last December's final gig in Brighton.
David confirmed that post production work is expected to begin shortly
at the League studio with the soundtrack being mixed for DVD audio
(likely to be Dolby 5.1).
A number of extras are currently under consideration including an
hour long feature to be filmed in Sheffield next week.
A release date has yet to be finalized but keep checking back here
for more updates.

Secrets
Online is honoured to be able to make available another exclusive
mix for readers to download. Webmaster of the essential
Blind Youth site Sean Turner was commissioned by Virgin to submit
a new mix of this Reproduction classic for 2003's Very Best Of,
oddly though, the mix was never included on the final tracklisting.
Previously a Secrets Online mix of the week, the Ex-Rental Mile
High Mix is not only innovative for it's clever use of percussion
and faithful reproduction suited to ESH's original charm, this mix
also includes a brief moment of previously unheard Philip O vocals
from the original recording session.
Sean reveals more in the following production notes:
The remix was commissioned as
part of the recent "Very Best Of" project, thanks to a
certain recording artist well-known for his League-based hits...
;)
I was given all
24 tracks from the original master tapes, from which I used all
the vocals and some of the synth parts. To these, I added new drums
and bass (swapping the original 3:4 time signature to a more dancefloor-friendly
4:4 rhythm, which was pretty tricky!), plus some other synth parts.
I tried to retain
an overall 'early League' feel with this remix, but also tried to
make the whole thing sound simultaneously fresh and modern, by incorporating
electro and post-punk funk elements which are currently in vogue
in many clubs.
By the way, the vocal snippet right at the
end of the remix is headphone 'leakage' from one of the backing
vocal tracks, revealing part of Philip's rough guide vocal which
was later erased from the master tapes. I also slowed down Philip's
"at least" to the original speed, which had been speeded
up on the original version... I guessed these little things might
be of interest to die-hard fans!

Billy
Samson of Scotland has produced a very professional mix of
'Only After Dark'.
This new 'Electroluvs Remix'
brings the track into the 00's with some nifty new drum patterns,
analogue leads and backing but with the original vocals and structure
intact. The production is also delightfully crisp.
As well as the band Electroluvs, Billy also runs a club night up
in Scotland for which the track was remixed and more details can
be found here
for those up north wanting to escape the arctic chill.
Secrets Online will be hosting this exclusive new mix for a limited
period only and you can download the entire track by clicking on
the link below.
Only

After Dark can be found on the digitally remastered Travelogue
currently retailing for £6.99 over at amazon.co.uk.
If you have access to pro-tools,
mixing equipment and feel that you have what it takes to be the
next Felix Da Housecat then drop the site a line and we will showcase
the best of the mixes here.

A belated happy new year to you all. I'm back after all that festive
nonsense made bearable thanks to DVD boxsets of Babylon
5 (44 episodes in two weeks!).
Last month, Secrets Online had it's busiest month since going online
back in October 2001. The site attracted 20986
unique visits with many first time visits thanks to the UK tour
and it's programme.
To celebrate the arrival of 2004, we thought we'd give away some
more League goodies. Pictured opposite is the first prize which
is a huge Virgin promo poster from the Romantic era autographed
by Philip, Susan and Joanne whilst three runners-up will each receive
a 1986 World Tour backstage pass also signed by the electro trio!
None of these items have ever been available commercially so the
winners will be owning an exclusive bit of League history.
Same rules apply as before, simply send an email with your name
and details with the header 'Romantic' to: secretsonline@f2s.com.
The closing date for this comp 19
/01/04.
