db
has posted a tantalising one minute taster of an unfinished mix
of 'All I Ever Wanted'
over at the forum that he and Neil
Sutton were 'noodling
with' some time ago. This previously
unheard mix has upbeat dance elements with a touch of electro (clash)
and it certainly leaves you wanting to hear more.
This mpg sample will
probably be hosted by db for a short period only so click on this
link
or the AIEW
image to hear it now (requires Quick Time).
db is also running a comp where the prize is a huge Romantic promo
poster signed by the band. To enter, all you have to do is click
here
for more details.
Secrets Online recommends: Fosca's
It's Going To End In Tears (All I Know) - delightfully brilliant
electro pop. Click here
for more details & sound samples!
Electronically Yours:
The Radio Show
- Rachel Stevens, Girls Aloud and....Leonard Cohen??
an essential three hours of top tracks.
Congratulations to Richard
X whose poptastic 'Some Girls'
single for Rachel Stevens
has hit number 2 in the UK charts. We are eagerly awaiting Richard's
offical new remix of Depeche
Mode classic 'Enjoy The Silence'
that is expected to preceed Mute's forthcoming DM remix album.

Finally, one or two websites of pure excellence have been added
to the slightly revamped links section here.
Includes the delightful Bjork
who recently had this to say to I-D magazine last month when talking
about electronic music: 'Human
League, you just can't top them, right?'.
Pictured opposite is the cover for Bjork's new studio album 'Medúlla'
which is due out in August.

More Heaven 17 related news has
emerged via the official H17 forum this evening from former League
founder Sir Martyn Ware. In a
thread regarding a HL/H17 tour, Martyn has posted a message that
will delight fans of the Reproduction
& Travelogue era. Hinting that
he is more than keen to write new material with Philip, Martyn posted
the following comments tonight;
'We at H17 HQ love the idea of
touring with the League. I personally would love to write with Phil
again. Over to you Phil! Bring it on! Martyn'.
Secrets Online would certainly love a reunion of two of Sheffield's
greatest bands either on stage together or in the studio. Meanwhile,
Heaven 17's long awaited album Before After will be available to
purchase from their official site within the next few months.
Heaven 17 are currently in talks with EMI/Virgin over the remastering
of the entire BEF catalogue according to the official site and new
digital masters of classic albums such as 'Penthouse
& Pavement', 'The Luxury Gap'
and 'How Men Are' may be scheduled
for a release in early 2005.

Paul Clarke has today kindly sent
in some images he took of the League performing at the
Capesthorne Hall concert in Cheshire on June 4th. The fetching
image opposite of a leather clad Joanne was taken from the giant
video screen. A bigger version of this striking image is available
by clicking on the image.
Finally, it's emails like this one that I recieved tonight from
Michael Pesare that saved the
site from being handed over to someone else a few months back when
I didn't think I would have the time to maintain it. Michael wrote
in to say; 'I was a big fan of The Human
League with the release of Dare and now have rediscovered them.
Your web site is an outstanding resource and I have enjoyed learning
more about the people behind the band. Thank you for fixing the
links so that new pages open in the same browser window. Keep up
the great work.'
Many thanks for that Michael. Keep the feedback
coming to - webmaster@leagueonline.f2s.com
orac - the H17 news above and this image
have had me on cloud 9 all day (warning - image contains spoiler
of the return of an old Dr Who foe - see if you can guess what they
are).

Heaven 17 have today launched their very first official website
to celebrate the highly anticipated follow-up to 1997 album 'Bigger
In America'.
This stylish site includes a news section, ringtones, information
on the new album 'Before After'
and for those who sign up to become members - extra features include
a media and biog section.
There is also a forum for members with a post from H17 singer Glenn
Gregory and former Human League
founder Martyn Ware.
In a thread asking about Human League/H17 collaborations Glenn replied:
'I'm sure one day we will get
to tour with the League. I'd love to sing a duet with Phill actually.
Any suggestions as to which song?'
It does seems that the
previously elusive H17 will be heavily involved in this new site.
We love Heaven
17 here at Secrets Online and we urge you all to visit and support
the site by clicking on the H17 site logo above.

Location filming for the new series of Dr
Who has began in Cardiff on the
day that H17 launched their official site. The innovative
Ron Grainer/Delia Darbyshire
Dr Who theme was one of the first tracks that Martyn and Ian played
live back in 1977 during their first ever gig in Sheffield.
The highly anticipated return of the world's longest running sci-fi
series features top actor Christopher
Ecclestone (28 Days Later, Shallow
Grave etc) as the Doctor plus gorgeous former 'pop princess' Billie
Piper (pictured opposite) as
companion Rose.

The
news archives have now been slightly remixed and edited with current
CSS styles to match the rest of the site and the text should be
easier to read. To catch up on what the band have been up to since
January 2002 plus previous tour reports and concert photos, it all
begins here.
Thanks to Stuart Thompson who wrote in to say: 'It's
a great site, very well designed, however I do have one complaint
about it, it is irritating when every time you click a link to another
page a separate window opens, you can end up with several windows
all for the one site...'
All sorted now (hopefully ;)).
The
site recieved a huge spike of extra traffic last Friday after CH4
showed an episode of sentimental US comedy'Will
& Grace'. The episode entitled
'Marry Me a Little More'
featured the two lead characters talking about The Human League
before a wedding. Will told Grace that when he was young back in
the 80's he believed that 'Human
League would be bigger than The Beatles'.
The two characters then hugged and sang the opening verse of 'Don't
You Want Me' to each other. This
particular episode was apparently watched by 23 million people when
it original aired in the States last year.
BBCi have given the site a traffic
boost in their 'Recommended Gigs,
Concerts & Events' music
section highlighting the forthcoming 2004 UK League tour complete
with a link to Secrets Online here.
Now all I want is for the BBC to bring back Blake's
7. . .
