Miracle
Decent male fronted electro has been a bit thin on the ground since the girls took over with their Micro Korgs and EY has searched high & low for some innovative knob twiddling from the boys. In the week that former EY starlet Ladyhawke was pictured in the NME wearing a Nirvana T-shirt and promising that her new album is 'like Britpop' (we don't really mind so long as Britpop Pip sounds like PULP), along comes a very promising new electronic duo to give us all hope.

Miracle are comprised of sharp dressed Steve Moore (of Zombi fame) and 'experimental' analogue expert Daniel O'Sullivan. Together they have produced a atmospheric 'pop' tune with beautiful layers that is much closer to the original EY manifesto then the likes of Hurts who possibly could have done with a few tracks like 'The Visitor'. Though Miracle are obviously influenced by the first great wave of electronic pop, they've managed to avoid sounding like a mirror image of OMD, Depeche etc. The influences are a lot less obvious with the duo citing film director John Carpenter as a hero but EY electroheads will pick up on the brooding 'The Assault on Precinct 13' bassline. Our fave moment of the track comes in at 1.20 seconds when it all goes a bit 'Long Hot Summer' by The Style Council (we kid you not), but don't in anyway be put off by that if you have a P. Weller allergy. It's a brilliant and shimmery pop moment that suggests staying power for Miracle in a market where the 90s are threatening to make a comeback.

NME
have awarded Miracle an enitre page in this week's issue which is very rare these days for a synth band and we will be keeping our ears tuned in to future sound shapes from Moore & O'Sullivan.

'The Visitor' is included on the 'Fluid Window' EP and it's out now on House Anxiety Records

Vince Clarke outshines Wilder with 'Behind The Wheel' remix

Sir Vince Clarke

Sir Vince Clarke never let's us down...here's the Synth Lord's 2011 pulsating remix of Mode's throbbing 88 classic 'Behind The Wheel' that has leaked to Youtube in the last few days...

Alan Wilder's hugely anticipated remix of 'In Chains' has also appeared on the web within the last 24 hours. Despite the nods to one of our fave Mode albums 'Songs of Faith & Devotion', Alan doesn't quite hit the highs of our headline grabbing remix by Vince but you can sample Wilder's long awaited return to Modeland via this link.

In other related news, Mode legend Dave Gahan popped into WNYC to chat about the new remix album and revealed that he is currently writing tracks for the next Mode album. Dave also praised the remix work of Wilder and Clarke during a 17 minute interview that you can hear below.
