Kraftwerk

Ask the EY collective about the most important electronic band and a billion electro connoisseurs would quite rightly insist
on Kraftwerk. It is now thirty years since The Model' topped the UK charts and 6 Music have got in touch with EYHQ with details of how they will be celebrating this anniversary electro landmark.

The BBC's Sony award winning digital station will be broadcasting three hours in honour of Germany's massively influential knob twiddlers who took on the rock establishment and paved the way for the synth revolution that banished punk, dominating the musical landscape of the UK and beyond. 6 Music want the help and wisdom of EY readers in order to create the 'The Ultimate Kraftwerk Playlist' that will be broadcast in a weekend full of programmes beginning at 7pm on Friday 3rd Feb. The nation's leading digital station also wants your thoughts on the amazing legacy of Kraftwerk - 'The Godfathers of Electro' and the countless acts they've influenced (Heaven 17, New Order, Soft Cell, Human League, Pet Shop Boys, The Eurythmics, Yazoo, Depeche Mode - we could be here forever listing them all....)

To register your most cherished tracks from Dusseldorf’s finest , head on over to the official 'Now Playing' Facebook page here. Alternatively, you can suggest Krafty gems over at Spotify.

Introducing...Factory Floor

Following Mojo's glorious homage to New Order last month with the CD 'Power Corruption & Lies Covered', a refreshing band of disciples influenced by the sonic blueprints of Sumner, Hooky, Morris and Gilbert have appeared on the horizon.

Adhering to EY's continuing policy of forward thinking Alt-Synth to excite tired old ears and entice new souls into the Temple of Electro, Factory Floor have managed to catch our attention here at EYHQ with a brilliant slab of heavily sequenced electro entitled 'Two Different Ways'

Ignore the often misleading lazy tag of 'Industrial' (a tag that usually consists of shouty bald
men in dodgy uniforms trying to rewrite NIN's 'Pretty Hate Machine'), Factory Floor have managed to inject a certain amount of intelligence into a recording that sounds absolutely terrific on headphones and even retains its clarity blasting out from a decent pair of speakers.

A London based trio who have been twisting and distorting new electronic sounds since they
originally formed back in 2005, Factory Floor (who've already worked with New Order's Stephem Morris) are now finally making waves across muso-blog land with this track that has an urgency not heard since Adrian Sherwood sliced up Depeche Mode's 'People Are People' and fed the synths through massive amps for the ON -US Sound 12 inch mix back in 1984.

Hit the play button below for 6 minutes of pumpy, hypnotic and extremely menacing electro...its all about the bassline.....
