Legendary label Mute have today confirmed a forthcoming collaboration between two of the UK's most illustrious analogue knob twiddlers. Vince Clarke and Martin Gore are set to release their first album together since 1981 under the name of VCMG.

Inspired by the techno genre, VCMG's first EP 'Spock' will be a digital download exclusive to Beatport on November 30th followed by a lovely slice of Mute vinyl on December 19th whilst the as of yet untitled long player (NCC-1701?) is expected in the Spring of 2012.

There was and long and mournful sigh here at EYHQ when it was announced prior to Mute's Short Circuit Festival that Vince had dropped talk of new Yazoo material and live gigs in favour of another forgettable Erasure album so here's hoping that VCMG can make amends and get us all excited.

The new VCMG album will be produced by 'influential Californian electronic artist' Uberzone / Q  and for more details about the forthcoming Spock remixes, please jump on Mute.

In other news, Orbital have confirmed that former Depeche Mode genius Flood will be producing their next album that is also due for release next Spring. If you haven't got round to hearing the current single 'Never' yet then do have a listen here. It's a bit special.
